We celebrate National House-Building Council award win

Our South East region is celebrating after one of its Halden Field site managers received a prestigious NHBC (National House-Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality award. Lea Packer is among 450 site managers who have been recognised for their dedication to building high quality homes.

Lea, site manager at Halden Field has been selected from over 16,000 site managers from around the UK and received his awards following a series of assessments by NHBC inspectors.

Lea, a three time winner, says: "I am delighted to have received an award from NHBC but it's a real team effort at Halden Field and I'll certainly be sharing the honour with everyone. It's brilliant to be able to give our customers added assurance that their new home is of top quality."

Banfield family move into dream home at Halden Field just in time for new arrival

After relocating from Milton Keynes and a year of renting a house in Cranbrook, Kent, Tom and Eve Banfield found their dream home at Halden Field. The couple, along with their daughter Aria, moved into their three bedroom Benenden home in March 2019 just in time for the birth of their son Jesse and are now looking forward to the next chapter of their lives as a family of four. Tom said: "As soon as we saw the show home at Halden Field and the future plans for the development, we were sold. What really appealed to us was the fact that it wasn't too large a development and the countryside location is what we've always wanted. Tenterden is also really close by and has all the shops and amenities we need."

The Banfield's used the Government backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme to secure their new home with a 5% deposit. Tom says: "During the whole buying and moving process we had constant communication with the sales executives. Any questions we had were quickly answered and the site manager and workmen have been helpful. Since we've moved in we've had lots of contact to check that we're settling in okay and it's just lovely to know that we've joined such a friendly community.

"We are still settling in but it's really starting to feel like home here at Halden Field. In a few week's time I think we'll feel like we've been here forever and that's exactly what we wanted."

We go back to school to teach pupils at Rolvenden Primary School all about safety

Our Project Manager, Phil Laycock, Health and Safety Advisor, Simon Strudwick and Marketing Manager, Sophie Steel headed back to school to teach children from Rolvenden Primary School a valuable lesson about the importance of staying safe around a building site.

The pupils were given an informative and interactive presentation about the dangers posed by construction sites and were invited to design a poster to show what they learned. The children also had a chance to interact with our mascots, Milly Mortar and Handy Andy and received goody bags which included a copy of our children’s book, ‘How we build your home with Milly Mortar and Handy Andy’.

Commenting on the visit, Esme Thomas, Deputy Headteacher at Rolvenden Primary School, said: “We’re very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for taking the time to talk to our pupils about something that really matters. Phil did a great job of giving such a fun and engaging talk which highlighted the dangers posed by building sites and really helped the the children to understand the importance of staying safe.”

Phil Laycock, said: “Children are naturally interested in finding out how we build our new homes but it is important that they are aware of the dangers around construction sites. It was our pleasure to talk to the pupils at Rolvenden Primary School and hope that our talk gave them a valuable lesson in staying safe. We’re looking forward to seeing the poster designs they come up with and hope to display some of these at Halden Field as a reminder of the dangers to look out for while construction is underway.”

Rolvenden Primary School celebrates our donation

We have donated £1000 to Rolvenden Primary School to help with improvements to their outdoor seating area. Our financial backing has gone towards a new wooden bench which the school have decorated with bunting, cushions and blankets. The new seating area will provide more outdoor learning opportunities as well as an alternative space for the children to rest and relax between lessons in the summer months.

James Tibbles, Interim Headteacher at Rolvenden Primary School, commented: “It’s fantastic to have a spot where the pupils can enjoy some quiet time especially as the weather begins to get warmer. The donation from Taylor Wimpey has allowed us to provide a fabulous new bench for the pupils and we are really grateful for their support.”Jason Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director for

Taylor Wimpey South East, said: “We were delighted to offer a donation to Rolvenden Primary School. The work we do is a lot more than just building high-quality homes and giving something back to local schools means a great deal to us. It’s great to hear that our contribution has been put to good use and I’m sure the children at Rolvenden Primary School will make the most of their new seat over the coming months.”
