As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local and national charities and organisations, we joined together with other housebuilders to complete the second annual Housebuilder Mountain Marathon in aid of the Youth Adventure Trust. Our team, along with others from sponsors and companies in the industry, tackled the gruelling 26 mile course across the Lake District, and raised a huge total of £107,000.
The money raised will go towards supporting around 30 vulnerable children throughout their three-year programme at the Youth Adventure Trust. The programme is a series of residential adventure camps that give young people the chance to take part in a range of activities, work in a team and challenge themselves in a new environment.
Head of PR and Communications at the Youth Adventure Trust, Naomi Burrell, commented: “It’s fantastic to see our colleagues from across the industry come together and raise money for such a worthwhile cause. The Youth Adventure Trust provide vital support to some of our country’s most vulnerable children and gives them an opportunity to challenge themselves and grow in confidence. It was a fantastic team effort to complete such a huge challenge.”
Daniel McGowan, Divisional Chairman at Taylor Wimpey, who also took part in the Challenge, said: “It is a privilege to take part in this event. Testing ourselves this way reminds us of how difficult life can be all of the time for some of the people we are hoping to help.”
