Our South Wales regional team held two visits for students at Jubilee Park Primary School in Rogerstone to teach them about the importance of health and safety on a building site, as well as providing them with a hands on experience at a development.
On Monday 11th June, Sara Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director, Joanna Russell and Kellie Risdale, both Sales Managers at Taylor Wimpey South Wales, led a presentation at Jubilee Park Primary School about safety warning signs, building site machinery, protective clothing and more. Our mascots, Millie Mortar and Handy Andy, also attended and surprised the students during the visit. Following the assembly, a hi-vis event took place at the nearby Tregwilym View development on Wednesday 13th June where the students received a tour and talk from Bridget Warlow, Site Manager, who was also accompanied by Millie Mortar and Handy Andy.
Commenting on the visit, Bridget Warlow, Site Manager at Taylor Wimpey’s Tregwilym View development said: “It was great to see the pupils of Jubilee Park Primary School engage with the tour and talk, as well as have an interest in finding out how we build our new homes.”
Sara Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey South Wales, added: “At Taylor Wimpey, we are committed to working closely with the local communities that we build in, so it is vital that we inform students in schools around our developments about the risks to look out for around our construction sites. It was a pleasure meeting the children and we hope they enjoyed learning about health and safety.”
Catherine Kucia, Headteacher at Jubilee Park Primary School said: “It’s great to see a company like Taylor Wimpey taking the time to teach children about something that really matters. Sara, Kellie and Bridget did a great job of keeping the children engaged during the assembly and site visit, whilst teaching them about the importance of health and safety on a building site. I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey South Wales on behalf of everyone at Jubilee Park Primary School for taking the time to teach the children about such an important subject.”
